The Movie Queen's Mouth is Blessed - Chapter 46
Li Biying must have realized this by now. Jiang Xiaobai was doing this to get back at her. She glared at Jiang Xiaobai for a while before reluctantly taking out her phone from her assistant, Liu Liu.
“I’ve transferred the money… If this thing doesn’t work, I won’t let you off!”
The notification of the transfer was pleasant to hear. Jiang Xiaobai glanced at it and smiled.
As she turned to leave, she left one last remark, “Thanks for the Tianwei thing.”
After she left, Li Biying was left standing there, stunned.
“Ah… Damn Jiang Xiaobai! You even charged me after I helped you! Heartless! White-eyed wolf!”
But she was still puzzled. How did Jiang Xiaobai know?
“Looks like Li Biying is a good deed doer who doesn’t seek recognition,” Ming Zhu whispered to Jiang Xiaobai after they left.
“She’s just too embarrassed to admit it. After all, she once tried to harm me, and now I’m one of the few who’s willing to help her. Her feelings must be complicated, so she can’t bring herself to say it.”
Jiang Xiaobai understood this feeling well.
Li Biying was a sweet-talking but cold-hearted person, but her coldness had limits. She could also be gentle and warm to those she trusted.
The incident had been a significant blow to her. When her friends in the industry didn’t come to her aid during a critical time, Jiang Xiaobai, whom she disliked, helped her out. This complicated attitude was understandable.
After guessing Li Biying had helped her, Jiang Xiaobai had Dong Ran investigate. Dong Ran confirmed it.
“Tianwei had chosen Li Biying as the cover model for this issue, and they had already coordinated. But then this incident happened, damaging Li Biying’s reputation. It was better for her to stay low-key, so she did a favor and passed the opportunity to you as a way to repay you for your help.”
While it was a favor, it was a rare opportunity for an actress of Jiang Xiaobai’s level. Li Biying must have said many good things about her to Milly. She even sent them the behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot to gain their trust, which convinced Tianwei to agree to the replacement.
Jiang Xiaobai had helped Li Biying first, but not everyone returned favors. Li Biying’s timely repayment of the favor improved Jiang Xiaobai’s opinion of her, making her think that Li Biying was worth interacting with.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have given her the pendant with the luck charm.
Well, she did charge her.
But she wouldn’t sell it if they weren’t on good terms, even if someone offered her a lot of money.
As she had said, such a charm was one of a kind.
She believed she would thank her once Li Biying used it and saw the results.
In the afternoon, Director Niu called a few actors while filming. “I have something to tell you. The investors are coming soon, so be on your best behavior.”
Investors?
This wasn’t unusual, but the actors were a bit surprised. They quickly responded, “Understood, Director. We’ll do our best!”
“Good. Just be on your best behavior. If you perform poorly and the investors ask for replacements, don’t blame me for not helping you.”
Director Niu deliberately made it sound serious, but he just wanted them to perform well in front of the investors. If they caught someone’s eye, they might get more opportunities.
Director Niu was also puzzled. They had already filmed a quarter of the show, so why were the investors coming now?
The filming continued, but the actors were on edge. They kept looking around, fearing that a big shot might sneak in unnoticed.
About an hour later, there was movement.
“You can keep filming; we’ll just look around.”
There were six or seven people, mostly middle-aged men in their forties. Among them, however, was a bright spot.
A young woman in her early twenties with a graceful figure wore a white business suit. Her long, flaxen hair cascaded down to her waist, and she wore slender high heels. Her steps were elegant, and her makeup was exquisite.
She was beautiful, with a fashionable and radiant beauty. Her eyes were lively and sparkling.
Though young, she walked confidently among the others, keeping pace with a man in a silver-gray suit. Her expression was not one of humility but of equal status.
And she was the one who spoke.
Director Niu greeted them and briefly explained the day’s shooting progress. He nodded when she spoke and signaled the actors to continue.
It was Jiang Xiaobai’s scene. She glanced over and saw that she didn’t recognize anyone, including Zhao Xiulun. She returned her focus to the filming.
However, she could feel a gaze lingering on her, a bold, unmasked, highly intrusive look.
She frowned and, when she had a moment, followed the gaze to meet the eyes of the woman in white.
Their eyes met, and the woman smiled at Jiang Xiaobai before approaching her.
“Director, could I borrow your actress for a moment? I’d like to talk to her.”
The scene had just finished, and the woman in white approached Director Niu directly.
Director Niu was a bit confused. The investors had come with several people, but the others had left shortly, leaving only Miss Li. He wanted to ask but didn’t want to seem rude, so he let her stay.
Now, it seemed she knew Jiang Xiaobai.
“Of course, Xiaobai, go ahead.”
Director Niu nodded.
Jiang Xiaobai looked at the woman in white and responded, and they walked to a quiet corner.
“Jiang Xiaobai, you’re really something. You’re living it up, aren’t you? Not a bit of guilt or unease?”
The woman crossed her arms, looking at Jiang Xiaobai with a complex expression—anger, disgust, and perhaps… envy?
Jiang Xiaobai was confused. She looked at the woman, thinking hard, and then asked, “Sorry, do we… know each other?”
The woman in white froze, completely stunned. She stared at Jiang Xiaobai in disbelief, her voice breaking. “What did you say? You don’t recognize me!”
“Should I know you?”
Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t find any information about this woman in the original owner’s memories. She didn’t think they knew each other, but the woman’s hostility was apparent. What was going on?
“I’m Li Wei! Li Wei!”
The woman in white was almost shouting, her previous elegance forgotten.
Li Wei…
The name seemed familiar to Jiang Xiaobai.
