- Chapter 12.2 - Intense Cultivation
At first, Wen Shu could quickly produce the spiritual blade but struggled to control its power and precision.
Now, she had finally made some progress.
Wen Shu was moved to tears by her own hard work.
Without wasting a moment, she took only a few breaths to rest before gathering her spiritual energy again and continuing to practice.
“She’s truly a cultivation maniac,” Wen Xuening thought, opening her mouth to suggest a break but ultimately deciding against it.
Wen Shu’s dedication had inspired her, and she spent more time cultivating than before.
In the clan school, Wen Shu was known for her diligence. She often practiced spiritual energy condensation without rest, spending her time either painting, studying, or meditating. Recently, she had added combat practice to her routine.
Aside from the upcoming competition, Wen Shu knew the plot well and knew that the Wen family would soon face a significant crisis. Although the female protagonist would undoubtedly resolve it quickly, Wen Shu wanted to seize the opportunity to demonstrate her own strength and value!
Opportunities never wait, and once lost, they’re gone forever.
To keep up with the female protagonist, Wen Shu could only rely on one thing: diligence.
Wen Shu felt that time was slipping away, so she packed her daily training schedule tightly. When her spiritual energy ran low, she would immediately take pills and meditate to recover, then resume practicing the Spiritual Blade without pause.
She was well aware of the saying, “Biting off more than one can chew,” so she didn’t rush to practice all the techniques Elder Wen had imparted.
Instead, she carefully chose the most straightforward and basic technique, the Spiritual Blade, and practiced it relentlessly. She believed two months would be enough to master at least two basic combat skills!
Wen Shu hadn’t kept her inheritance a secret from Wen Xuening. She knew that even without asking, Wen Xuening would keep it confidential.
This had clear benefits. It strengthened their friendship, deepened their trust, and allowed Wen Shu to secretly practice her painting cultivation techniques in Wen Xuening’s courtyard.
With Wen Xuening by her side, Wen Shu could focus entirely on her cultivation and insights.
Sometimes, when Wen Xuening wasn’t refining pills, drawing talismans, or practicing swordsmanship, she would train with Wen Shu.
Wen Xuening strictly suppressed her cultivation to the second level of Qi Condensation and refrained from using other techniques, relying solely on a wooden peach-wood sword to train with Wen Shu.
Wen Xuening practiced the sword path with a cultivation method called the “Primordial Sunfire Art.” Its fiery energy was powerful, and its precise energy was challenging to counter!
At first, Wen Shu was utterly overwhelmed. Despite being a level higher in cultivation, she was no match for Wen Xuening’s single wooden sword.
But then she changed her strategy, focusing on defense. Since she couldn’t defeat Wen Xuening, she tried to use the Spiritual Blade to block her opponent’s energy.
After a month of this back-and-forth, Wen Shu’s speed and strength in gathering spiritual energy had improved significantly!
“There’s less than a month until the family’s new disciple competition. How are you feeling, Shu Shu?” Wen Xuening asked with concern.
On the surface, Wen Shu remained calm but felt disheartened. She thought that she had let Elder Wen down. Her progress was too slow. Although she knew one couldn’t become a master overnight, achieving a qualitative leap in strength within two months was still unrealistic.
The thought of Elder Wen announcing her as his disciple at the competition weighed heavily on her. She was afraid of performing poorly and embarrassing her master.
“I’ve made some progress,” she replied to Wen Xuening.
Then, she raised her hand, signaling for Wen Xuening to draw her sword so they could train again.
Though Wen Shu was still at a disadvantage, each time they trained, she lasted longer and occasionally managed to counterattack. Watching her, Wen Xuening felt both heartache and pride.
“I need to work harder, too,” Wen Xuening thought.
