The Ten Thousand Ways to Hug the Female Protagonist’s Thigh - Chapter 24.2
Even though Wen Xuening was only at the mid-stage of Foundation Establishment, she could easily overcome late-stage Foundation Establishment beasts.
“I wonder where Shu Shu is right now,” Wen Xuening thought, frowning as she stored the wolf’s body in her storage pouch.
Before entering the realm, the two had agreed to use the stars at night as a guide, heading north hoping to meet up.
So, Wen Xuening stayed put, waiting for nightfall.
“I need to find her as soon as possible,” she thought. Qi Refinement cultivators were at a significant disadvantage in the secret realm. Most of the beasts in the outer regions were at the late Qi Refinement stage, and it usually took several disciples working together to take one down. If Wen Shu were alone like her, she would be in grave danger!
Wen Xuening’s concern stemmed from the fact that she now saw Wen Shu as her own younger sister.
According to the inheritance she had received, the Wen family’s secret realm contained many treasures left behind by the ancient immortal who had passed down the legacy. These treasures could help her purify her spiritual roots.
This was also why she had joined the Wen family’s school.
Only by becoming a core disciple of the Wen family could she participate in the family competition and gain access to the secret realm!
Wen Shu had spiritual roots in water and wood, so Wen Xuening didn’t worry about the fire-attribute treasure choosing the wrong master. As for the other treasures, she didn’t mind sharing them with Wen Shu.
In Wen Xuening’s eyes, Wen Shu was family. Whether she or Wen Shu obtained the treasures made little difference.
After half a day, Wen Shu reached the vicinity of the hill. No one was around, but the ground was covered with large wolf paw prints. The prints were fresh, not yet covered by snow, indicating that the wolf pack had passed through recently.
Wen Shu pursed her lips, tightened her grip on her spirit brush, and cautiously entered the forest.
“Rustle, rustle—”
Something moved above her. Wen Shu immediately dropped to the ground, holding her breath and staring intently at the grass before her.
“Squeak, squeak!”
A platypus-like creature burst out of the grass. Its round eyes darted around before landing on Wen Shu, who lay motionless on the ground, pretending to be dead. The creature strutted over and stomped on her head with a loud squelch.
“Squeak, squeak! Squeak, squeak!”
The platypus seemed to think it had triumphed over this two-legged creature and let out a series of triumphant squeaks.
Wen Shu remained perfectly still, not daring to breathe, as the creature hopped around on her.
“Whoosh!”
A dark shadow shot down from the treetops in a flash, seizing the platypus in its powerful grip. The creature didn’t even have time to react before it was subdued.
The shadowy beast glanced disdainfully at Wen Shu, who was still playing dead and seemed to find her too scrawny to bother with. It quickly ran off with the plump platypus in its mouth.
“Phew, demon badgers prefer fresh prey over remains,” Wen Shu thought, finally allowing herself to relax.
Brushing the snow off her robe, Wen Shu stood up.
“I’ll find a place to hide until nightfall. If it’s clear, I can use the stars to determine my direction,” she decided.
With that, she quickened her pace, careful not to make any sudden movements that might draw the attention of nearby beasts. Dressed in her snow-white robe, she blended into the snowy landscape, moving cautiously through the frost-covered grass.
Even though the forest would be more perilous at night, she couldn’t afford to remain in one place. Even if she didn’t find Wen Xuening, she couldn’t waste these precious three days of treasure hunting!
