Using spirit fruits to exchange for the treasures collected by the Spirit Ape, Wen Xuening felt this was a fair trade and readily agreed with Wen Shu’s decision.

The interior of the forest was dark and cold. Typically, one could hear the eerie whispers of spectral beings and the flapping of Crimson Flame Bats’ wings as they flew by, their crimson eyes gleaming from the shadows of the trees.

But now, there was nothing.

As the top predator of this jungle, the Spirit Ape’s patrols were conducted with great pomp and circumstance. The beast kings of the forest hid themselves carefully, afraid of encountering this unreasonable ape. Fighting it was out of the question—getting overpowered and then having their treasures plundered was simply not worth it!

Wen Shu and Wen Xuening followed the Spirit Ape, strolling through the forest without any hindrance. Not even the usual harassment from the beast kings occurred.

This was an unexpected bonus.

The sullen Spirit Ape walked on all fours, obediently leading the way. Every now and then, it would glance back with a resentful look, to which Wen Xuening would respond with a gentle smile, revealing a row of bright white teeth. The Spirit Ape shivered and decided not to look back again!

Riding on the Spirit Ape’s coattails, the Firethorn Beast was overjoyed. It boldly leaped onto the ape’s shoulder, crossing its legs and chirping smugly. “Serves you right, you stinky monkey, for stealing my two apples!”

After climbing a thick vine to the top of a giant tree, the two finally had a clear view.

A massive bird’s nest was at the top of the snow-white tree, though no birds were in sight. Instead, the nest was filled with glittering treasures. The Spirit Ape let out a few howls, indicating that this was its lair.

The nest, of course, wasn’t built by the Spirit Ape itself. It had no trouble seizing a bird’s nest as a powerful beast.

The nest was enormous, and its former owner must have been a high-grade raptor. The fact that the Spirit Ape had taken it over was a testament to its strength! If it hadn’t been for its greed and underestimation of these two humans, Wen Shu and Wen Xuening would have had no chance of defeating it in a confrontation.

Wen Xuening kept her word. She tossed a spirit fruit in her hand, then, thinking the Spirit Ape might try something sneaky, she pulled out a stack of Spirit-Breaking Talismans. With a flick of her wrist, dozens of talismans were thrown out, and with a loud “boom,” a small ice mound in the distance was shattered into fragments.

She then turned to the Spirit Ape and said, “Don’t try any tricks, or else…” She waved more talismans before the ape’s face and raised an eyebrow. “Understand?”

The Spirit Ape gulped, eyes widening in alarm. It nodded quickly. “What kind of person uses first-grade talismans by the stack? Normal humans throw them one at a time!” it thought.

The Spirit Ape’s treasures were numerous—some recognizable, some not, all glittering and dazzling. Wen Xuening and Wen Shu discussed and picked out a few low-grade spirit tools, a low-grade spirit herb whose name they didn’t know, a storage ring they couldn’t open yet, two jade slips, and even four high-grade spirit stones!

These items were useless to the Spirit Ape, who had collected them simply because they looked pretty. The two humans completely ignored their true treasures—like the statue of their beloved female ape, the ice-carved banana, the crystal grapes, the monkey wine, and the pet Golden Light Ants.
